Nothing can make a grown adult want to vomit, then cry, then kick a very hard stationary object like a palm tree hard enough to break their big toe like hearing the sound of your board cracking beneath your feet... Welcome to board sports. Do this long enough and all boards eventually need a doctor. Fear not you crying beach bum... if it can be built, it can be fixed.
So this board had a bad day... It snapped it's top shell and core, probably after an unnoticed delamination...be careful with all epoxy boards...they should never be left in a hot car or laying on black-top because epoxy distorts at 130 degrees Farenheit.
After a wide margin to remove to delaminated section, the cracks were opened wider and explored, then packed with fiberglass mat and epoxy. Any small cracks in the bottom shell are repaired from the inside by this method. The top is then re-layed much like the original, with slightly thicker sections along the seam.
At this point the board can be painted, gel coated, or another layer of pigmented epoxy added to create a uniform appearance to the finish. Cosmetics was not a huge concern with this particular board so it was repaired and put back on duty.
